Demons back on track Yarram Football players returned to the training track for their first preseason session on January 23.

YARRAM footballers are back on the track as they prepare for what they hope will be a big season in 2023. Preseason training resumed on Monday January 23 with good numbers in atten dance and sweating it out. The players will continue with their preseason training session each Monday and Wednesday evenings commencing at 6.00pm at the Yarram Rec Reserve. Coaches Griffin Underwood and Boad ie Motton supported by reserves coaches Chris Matsers and Adam Parry are happy with the start but want to see more boys up there to get some miles in their legs early. “New players are always welcome,” they said. Boadie Motton has worked with the committee to fit out a weights gymnasium for footballers and netballers to use. “Players can access at this facility at any time and this provides a great chance to build up that core strength that helps pre vent soft tissue injury as the season pro gresses,” Boadie said.. Griffin and Boadie have taken the play ers through some initial game planning and drills good mix to keep things interesting. Several new and returning faces have been working hard on the track and will give

depth to the clubs playing list which was a problem last year for the reserves squad. The Yarram Recreation Ground is in top condition thanks to the dedicated work of Peter Jenkins and his team and aided by the surveying work, significant top dress ing new underground sprinkling system and better drainage. The club is looking forward to presenting an excellent playing surface for the season ahead. ‘Working hand in hand with the Yarram and District Cricket Club allows our resourc es to go further, and the oval will show the results of the extra care and attention as the year goes on,” president Gerald Finn said. The club is still looking to fill a couple of executive positions and is hoping to make some appointments in the coming weeks. “Anyone who would like to assist the committee in areas of ‘game day secretary” or club secretary are most welcome to con tact me,” Gerald said.. “These positions are vital for the opera tion of the club as we move to the start of the season,” he said. “With great facilities, a stronger list than last year and a great vibe around the club which is so generously supported by spon sors and the community, hopes are high for a big year in 2023.”
