MEMBERS of the Historic Port Al bert Boat Club fired up their boats and headed across the water ways at Port Albert for a weekend on Snake Island. The Historic Port Albert Boat Club was established in 2013. “This year we celebrate our 10th birth day,” member Geoff Lipscombe said. “You don’t have to own a boat to be a mem ber of the club, just enjoy boating,” he said. “We enjoy one another’s company and focus on good preparation, that’s the key to keeping everyone safe on the water,” he said. “Within our club we have many hours of seamanship experience.” “New members are always welcome and as I said you don’t have to own a boat to be part of this club.” At the weekend, four boats enjoyed a leisurely trip out to Snake Island where they dropped their anchors for the night. AUSTRALIA Day fun was had by Yar ram bowls who took to the greens to complete in a triples event. After a very tasty sausage sizzle 24 bowlers enjoyed the game with some nov elty events adding to the fun. Winners of the day were Ned Tindale’s
team of Chrissy Honey and Don Cook. Runners up were Laurie Rippon’s team of Bev Vicino and Ken Watsworth. Smokey Dawson and Kevin Mitchell’s team won the novelty event. Everyone had a great day and thanked the Yarram Country Club Bowls division for organising the day.

LOCAL MP Darren Chester visit ed Woodside Beach recently to presented broad-rimmed hats to Woodside Beach Surf Life Saving Club. Mr Chester said local surf lifesaving clubs
do a wonderful job and he was proud to sup port the nippers program at Woodside. “Along with teaching young people how to be safe on the beach, the nippers in Woodside, Seaspray and Lakes Entrance are the leaders of the future,” Mr Chester said.
