YARRAM Courthouse Gallery’s lat est exhibition is by the multi-talent ed Haelew-Sian from Traralgon. Titled 183 Days of Narrative & Whimsy, Haelwen-Sian uses pen, coloured pencil, markers and pastels to create beautiful, haunting streetscapes, whimsical paintings, stunning pastel portraits and realistic mono tone scribble sketches. ‘183 Days of Narrative & Whimsy’ is an eclectic celebration of pastel, pen and pen cil works on paper, collated and created in the 183 days,” Haelwen-Sian said. “There are a total of 50 pieces in this col lection, most of which are narrative in style
and sequential in nature, inviting the viewer to imagine their own story. And then there are those more whimsical pieces to make you smile or ponder,” she said. “My style is ‘Scribble Sketch’, with ex pressive, almost impatient lines that delight in the play of nightshade and lamplight.” Haelwen-Sian is no strange to art lovers in the region. In the past she has been a successful entrant to the YCHG Archies and Miniatures, taking home prizes in both. This is Haelwen-Sian’s first solo exhibi tion and is a delightful expression of light and texture. The Yarram Courthouse Gallery is open everyday from 10 am. Entry is free.
